COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is a professional undergraduate degree program that prepares students to work effectively in the field of social welfare and human services. This program is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical training in social work principles, methods, and practices to address social issues, promote social justice, and empower marginalized communities.
The BSW curriculum blends classroom instruction with fieldwork, enabling students to develop a deep understanding of human behavior, social environments, community engagement, and the importance of ethical practice in helping individuals, families, groups, and communities. The program draws from interdisciplinary subjects like sociology, psychology, political science, and law to equip students with a holistic perspective on social issues.
Over the course of three years (or four years in some universities), students will study topics such as social work methods, human growth and development, social policies, social research, and field practicum. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, empathy, communication skills, and cultural competence.
