COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Diploma in Disaster Management is a comprehensive one-year (or two-semester) program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical tools required to effectively manage natural and man-made disasters. As the world faces increasing threats from climate change, pandemics, technological hazards, and other emergencies, the need for trained professionals in disaster preparedness and response has never been more critical.
This diploma course covers the entire disaster management cycle – from risk assessment and mitigation to preparedness, emergency response, rehabilitation, and recovery. Students will gain a strong understanding of how disasters impact communities, economies, and the environment, and how to develop strategic plans and systems to reduce vulnerabilities and enhance resilience.
The program emphasizes both theoretical frameworks and real-world applications, preparing students for roles in government agencies, NGOs, international relief organizations, disaster response units, and the private sector. It also integrates case studies, simulation exercises, and project work to provide practical experience in handling disaster situations.
