COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Postgraduate Diploma in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) is a specialized program designed to equip students, professionals, and development practitioners with advanced knowledge and practical skills essential for addressing critical challenges in the fields of water access, sanitation systems, and public health hygiene. This interdisciplinary course is deeply rooted in the global development agenda, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation), and is ideal for those aiming to make a meaningful impact in humanitarian, rural, and urban development sectors.
The program blends theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, focusing on planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH programs. Students gain insights into water resource management, environmental health, behavior change communication, policy frameworks, emergency response, and the social and cultural dimensions of hygiene practices.
The curriculum is designed to be highly practical and contextualized, often incorporating case studies from international and national development agencies, NGOs, and government programs. Learners also develop competencies in project management, data collection and analysis, and community engagement — skills essential for WASH professionals working in both stable and emergency contexts.
